GST in India is divided into four main tax slabs:
Understanding CGST and SGST
For intra-state transactions (within the same state), GST is divided equally into:
- CGST (Central GST): Half of the total GST goes to the Central Government
- SGST (State GST): Half of the total GST goes to the State Government
For inter-state transactions (between different states), IGST (Integrated GST) is charged instead, which goes to the Central Government.
How to Use This GST Calculator
This calculator can be used in two ways:
- Add GST: If you have a price excluding GST and want to know the final price including GST
- Remove GST: If you have a price including GST and want to know the original price and GST amount
GST Calculation Formula
Adding GST:
GST Amount = (Original Amount × GST Rate) / 100
Total Amount = Original Amount + GST Amount
Removing GST:
Original Amount = (Total Amount × 100) / (100 + GST Rate)
GST Amount = Total Amount - Original Amount
